FIRST THING FIRST: LANGUAGE AWARENESS

Hello eveyone

The first task of this semester has been completed! Our first task for the Material Design in ELT course was to prepare a worksheet. A language awareness task to be more specific. What we had to do for the task was to prepare a corpus for our students like a teacher, and a frequently confused subject teaching activity. The subject we chose is Must vs. Have to.

We first prepared a corpus with my teammate Beyza with the help of SkeLL. Then we prepared activities for students to do by using 'must and have to' to reinforce what they understand from our corpus. At the end we put little notes that could help them. We used our good old friend Canva to prepare this beautiful worksheet.

While preparing the task it took some time to prepare our own corpus. But after learning how to use a corpus based web tool like SkeLL, things got easier. We tried to organize the activities with Beyza  by benefiting from our own experiences and working together.

We tried to create a language awareness with this task. While we were preparing this, we learned a lot of things, I hope you liked it and it helped you in some way. See you in the next post with a new task.

Till next time!!

  1. Great insights on language awareness this really sets the foundation for effective communication. Understanding how tone, clarity, and audience expectations shape language is something many people overlook, especially when it comes to professional writing. This is exactly where resume writing services can make a big difference, as they focus on using the right words and tone to present skills and experiences in the most impactful way. Being aware of language not only improves everyday communication but also plays a crucial role in creating strong, job-winning resumes.
