LET'S FLIP THOSE CLASSROOMS!
Hello everyone!
I'm here again after a
while. But this time with a task that is time consuming and takes a lot of
effort. We are working on flipped classroom in Material design in ELT course. As
an example of this topic we prepared a video with my pair, Beyza. Our task was to
prepare a video about a topic we chose from the 5th grade English coursebook.
And we choose “Countries and Nationalities”.
This task was perhaps the
most difficult task I had to do so far. We prepared the sheets that we'd used
in the background from Canva. Since we've been using it for a long time,
neither of us have had any difficulties using Canva. But I can't say the same
for Animaker, which we used to adjust animations and add sound. Based on my own
experience, I think the site should make some improvements. Another challenge
we encountered is that my pair and I are in different places, so we recorded our
voices on different tools. This caused our sound qualities to differ. We used
the Audacity application to eliminate this problem as much as possible.
I think the flipped
classroom method can be efficient for students. It may sound like a new air to
students outside of the classical methods. However, the process of preparing
the videos used may not attract every teacher. I hope that more and more
teachers will start to volunteer to go beyond the classical methods.
You can watch the video and see the worksheets we prepared with my Pair Beyza below.
‘Till next time!
