'TILL NEXT TIME, GOODBYE, AGAIN

Image
Hello everyone      We have come to the end of another semester. I'm proud of myself for getting this far. In this semester, I have successfully completed many tasks that I thought would be very difficult to do beforehand. I learned a lot about integrating technology into education. I discovered loads of useful websites and apps that I could use later on. I can easily say that this course has definitely helped me improve myself a lot.       I am grateful for this lesson, especially my teacher, for all these experiences and what I learned. When I look back now, the project I had the most fun with was Webquest . The project I had the most difficulty with was augmented reality . However, each task taught me features that would make me a better equipped teacher in the future. I happened love blogging. Even after the course ends, I can continue blogging. But that's it for now. I hope to see you again. ‘Till next time!

LET'S MAKE WEBQUEST!

Image
Hello everyone      I am here with my last task for the material design in ELT course. My task this time was to prepare a Webquest. What we had to do for this task was to choose a project from the sample coursebook given by our teacher and turn it into a technological project. And again, with my friend Beyza , we chose a project from the sample coursebook. The project we chose is to prepare a poster about protecting our nature.      In the task we designed on Canva , we first informed the students about the subject in the instruction section. Then, in the task and process section, we explained to the students what they need to do and the steps to do it. We directed students to several websites that provided information about getting to know and protecting our nature. Afterwards, we asked the students to write a 100-word paragraph as far as they learned from these sites, and we put a sample of the paragraph we wanted for the students to review. After this exercise task, it was tim

SOMETHING REAL? AUGMENTED REALITY!

Hello everyone      This week I am here with a quite interesting task. It is called Augmented Reality. According to Merriam-Webster augmented reality is an enhanced version of reality created by the use of technology to overlay digital information on an image of something being viewed through a device (such as a smartphone camera). Here's how did my task process go with my friend Beyza.      Of course, first we did our research on what the task is. to tell the truth it took some time to find a free app that works to do this task. After some research we found the Assembler   app. After figuring out how the application was used, it was time to choose the subject on which we will do the task. We have chosen our topic as Coronavirus so that it can be relatable to all humanity. After choosing our topic, things started to get easier.       We made the handout on Canva . Afterwards, we searched for informative videos for students on the subject. We found many useful videos on Youtube

FLIPPED CLASSROOMS PART 2

Image
Hello everyone!      This week I’m back with the second part of my flipped classroom Project. The first part, as you know was about vocabulary but this time it is about grammar. Beyza and I prepared this as we did in the previous video in general.      First we chose a grammar topic from the preparatory book that we used as an example and then searched for appropriate examples. We designed the examples that we'd show in the video on Canva . We recorded our own parts and tried to make some adjustments to our sounds via Audacity . Finally, we used Animaker to add animation and combine all our material to make a video.      Learning grammar rules can be more difficult for students than learning vocabulary. This method we use is a different technique for them and may attract their interest, watch these videos with curiosity and not get bored while learning. This will hopefully help break down traditional teaching-learning patterns of both teachers and students. You can see our v

LET'S FLIP THOSE CLASSROOMS!

Image
Hello everyone!      I'm here again after a while. But this time with a task that is time consuming and takes a lot of effort. We are working on flipped classroom in Material design in ELT course. As an example of this topic we prepared a video with my pair, Beyza . Our task was to prepare a video about a topic we chose from the 5th grade English coursebook. And we choose “Countries and Nationalities”.      This task was perhaps the most difficult task I had to do so far. We prepared the sheets that we'd used in the background from Canva . Since we've been using it for a long time, neither of us have had any difficulties using Canva. But I can't say the same for Animaker , which we used to adjust animations and add sound. Based on my own experience, I think the site should make some improvements. Another challenge we encountered is that my pair and I are in different places, so we recorded our voices on different tools. This caused our sound qualities to differ. We

FIRST THING FIRST: LANGUAGE AWARENESS

Image
Hello eveyone The first task of this semester has been completed! Our first task for the Material Design in ELT course was to prepare a worksheet. A language awareness task to be more specific. What we had to do for the task was to prepare a corpus for our students like a teacher, and a frequently confused subject teaching activity. The subject we chose is Must vs. Have to. We first prepared a corpus with my teammate Beyza with the help of SkeLL . Then we prepared activities for students to do by using 'must and have to' to reinforce what they understand from our corpus. At the end we put little notes that could help them. We used our good old friend Canva to prepare this beautiful worksheet. While preparing the task it took some time to prepare our own corpus. But after learning how to use a corpus based web tool like SkeLL , things got easier. We tried to organize the activities with Beyza   by benefiting from our own experiences and working together. We tried to

WELCOME BACK FOLKS!

Hello eveyone      It’s me, İlayda, your favorite(!) blogger again. I took a break from my blog after successfully completing the Educational Technology course last semester. After this short break, I am taking the Material Design in ELT course this semester. This lesson is taught by my instructor who taught Educational Technology in the last semester, so I will continue to share my tasks for this semester on this blog.      This time, we will approach our tasks from a teacher perspective, unlike the last semester. This is something that excites me so much as I get closer to my graduation day by day. I think doing the tasks from a teacher perspective will prepare me for what I will experience with my future students. Welcome back, we have an exciting and educational period ahead, get ready!
